Studying with others isn't a study group. In a group you review together, ask each other questions, split the work. Studying with others is something else: each of you has your own book and exercises, but you do it next to someone. It's what happens in a library or a study room, and online it works the same way: an open video call, two people, each on their own work.
The difference from studying alone isn't a trick. It's the time: there's an hour when you said you'd be there, and someone sees you arrive.
