A study partner for your exam, every day until exam day

Serious, consistent, with a check-in: what it means in practice.

• Serious. Someone who turns up at the time they said and studies, not someone looking for a chat. Here each person books a quarter hour on purpose, says in one sentence what they're going to do, and then you both work in silence.
• Consistent. The same time every day. You book the same slot each day, and at that time a session starts with whoever booked that quarter hour and the same length.
• A daily check-in. Two minutes at the start to say what you'll do, two minutes at the end to say how it went. Every session is a check-in, without having to message anyone first.
• A different exam is fine. You usually don't choose who you're paired with, and you don't need the same subject: you each work on your own material. If you already know someone preparing the same exam, you can invite them with a link.

An agreement in a chat depends on one person. A booked time doesn't.

"Let's study together every day" is an intention: no time written down, everything resting on one person, and disappearing costs nothing. That's why so many study partners are gone by day two. I wrote more about it on the page about study partners who disappear after one day.

Here the part that doesn't depend on anyone is the time. If the other person doesn't show up, the session starts anyway: for the first 5 minutes we look for someone while you work. If nobody arrives, you choose: carry on with a virtual companion, and if you stay until the end the session counts in full, look for a person in the next quarter hour, or leave.

Cams on, mic off if you like: the camera stays on for the whole session and the microphone can stay muted from start to finish. There's a page on sessions with your microphone muted.

Work out the pace once, then just show up.

Before you start, it helps to know how many hours a week you need. There's a free calculator on the site: put in the exam date and the hours you think it takes, and it tells you the pace, week by week. If the date is close, the countdown to the deadline shows how many 25 minute sessions still fit before it.

Time zones don't get in the way: sessions start every quarter hour, every day, at any hour, and you book the time that suits you. More on the page about working across time zones.
