In a library you don't talk to anyone, yet you study next to other people doing the same. Here it's the same, but from home and for two: at the time you booked, a video call opens with one other person. In the first two minutes you tell each other what you'll do, then silence, and each of you studies on your own things until the timer ends.
It's not a group and it's not a chat: on the other side there is one person, who picked the same time as you. The camera stays on for the whole session, but you don't have to show your face: you can point it at your desk.

An exam is prepared over many sessions, not one. You can book more than one on the same day, for example two in the morning and two in the afternoon: you'll find them all in your calendar.
If you want to study with a classmate, send them an invite link from the app with the times you suggest: they pick the ones they want and you meet in the same room.
Many people study better when someone is waiting for them at a set time. That's a statement about what people do, not a promise about what will happen to you: the only way to find out is one session.
