1. The service and who provides it. WeFocusBuddy is a personal productivity app for booking and running coworking sessions over video, with a timer, a virtual companion and, if you turn it on, an Agenda with goals, exams and a log of your sessions (topic, note and score) ("Service"). The Service is provided by Daniele Cattaneo, contact [email protected]. By creating an account or using the Service you accept these Terms and confirm that you have read the Privacy Policy. Single point of contact for users and authorities under Articles 11 and 12 of Regulation (EU) 2022/2065 (DSA): [email protected], in Italian or English.
2. Eligibility. The Service is reserved for people aged 18 or over. By registering you declare, by ticking the relevant box, that you are at least 18. If we learn that an account belongs to a minor, we close it. If we have reason to believe that an account belongs to a minor, we may suspend access to coworking pending clarification.
3. Account. Access is with a code sent by email or with a Google or Microsoft account. You are responsible for the security of your email inbox and for activity carried out through your account. Tell us promptly about any unauthorised use by writing to [email protected].
4. Price. The Service is free: no payment details are requested and no amount is charged. No charge can occur without your express consent.
5. Coworking: how it works and rules of conduct. Coworking matches you on a video call with another real person for a timed session. The camera stays on for the whole session: it is the condition that makes the thing work. Inside the room there is a control to switch it off temporarily, meant for something unexpected and not for carrying out the session with the camera off. You are not required to show your face: you can point the camera at your desk and show that you are working. If you do not want to keep the camera on, use the timer or the “Solo” mode, which open no video call. If nobody is there yet when the session starts, for the first 5 minutes we keep looking for a match while you work. If nobody arrives within those 5 minutes, the choice is yours: continue on your own with a virtual companion, an illustrated character chosen at random that you can change during the first 12 seconds after it appears, and the app says so clearly: it is not a real person and not another user (if you stay until the end, the session counts in full), look for someone else right away in the next quarter hour (the minutes already spent do not count and the previous booking disappears from the calendar) or leave (the session disappears from the calendar and does not count). The same virtual companion may accompany you when a session that has already begun is interrupted because the partner cancels or does not show up. If the next quarter hour cannot be booked (for example because the server rejects the booking), the session ends and does not count. With the "Solo" mode you work without looking for another person, with a virtual companion chosen at random that you can change within the first 12 seconds. By using coworking you agree to: behave respectfully; not engage in harassing, discriminatory, sexually explicit, violent or otherwise inappropriate conduct; not display unlawful or unsuitable content; not record, film, photograph or distribute in any way the video call or the other person's image or voice; not use coworking for commercial or promotional purposes, or to solicit or lure other users. Breaking these rules may result in limitation, suspension or closure of access, in addition to any consequences provided by law.
5-bis. How matching works. We match you with another person who booked the same time and the same length. When matching with priorities is on, the match is provisional until 10 minutes before the start: if in the meantime someone you have priority with books, your companion may change, and the app tells you. Priority goes, in this order, to people one of you has added to «Favourite companions» and then, if the question «I study at university» is on, to people who gave the same answer as you (not answering counts as no). In the last 10 minutes your companion no longer changes because of a priority. Sessions that come from an invite never change. People you have blocked, or who have blocked you, are never matched with you. Your answer to «I study at university» is your own statement and we do not verify it; having someone in «Favourite companions» does not guarantee you will be matched with them, because it depends on who books.
6. Reports, suspension and closure. You can report a session from the app. Every report is read by a person and, on its own, does not suspend any account. We may limit, suspend or close access to coworking or to the whole account in the event of a breach of these Terms, a risk to the safety of other users or of the Service, or a legal obligation. Unless impossible or prohibited by law, we will tell you about the measure and the reason, and you may challenge it by writing to [email protected]: challenges are reviewed by a different person where possible. Temporary, non-punitive automatic limits may also apply, such as putting your future bookings on hold when the person you were paired with reports that you did not show up (section 6-bis): these are operational measures, which you can lift yourself at any time from the notice in the app and which last no longer than 30 days. You can also report content or conduct that you consider illegal, from the app or by writing to [email protected], stating: why you consider it illegal, where it is (the session or the content), your name and email, and a statement that what you write is, to the best of your knowledge, accurate and complete. If you have left us a contact, we confirm receipt and tell you our decision, with the available means of redress. When we restrict or close access we tell you: the measure, the facts and circumstances taken into account, whether the decision was taken by automated means, the basis (breach of these Terms or a legal rule) and the means of redress: a challenge to [email protected], out-of-court dispute settlement bodies and the courts.
6-bis. Showing up, giving notice, leaving early: the automatic measure. A coworking session only works if both matched people are there. So we ask you to show up at the booked time, to cancel the booking if you cannot make it, and not to leave without reason a session already started with another person. The app applies only one measure on its own, without a person having to step in: the precautionary hold. If the other person reports that you did not show up (the button appears 5 minutes after the start of the slot), your future bookings are put on hold as a precaution; you can lift the hold with a button in the app and choose whether to keep or cancel the bookings; in any case the hold lasts no longer than 30 days. Reported no-shows and early exits from sessions with real people (an exit does not count if the other person was the one missing) remain recorded, but their number does not trigger any other measure. What this measure does not do: it does not close or restrict your account, does not delete your data, does not stop you from using the rest of the app, and does not affect solo sessions or sessions with the virtual companion, which remain possible even during the hold; it is not a penalty. Early exits are recorded for 90 days. If you think the measure is wrong (for example you were reported although you connected), write to [email protected]: a person reviews the case and, where appropriate, removes it. Closing an account and any lasting limitation of access to coworking are never automatic: a person decides them, in accordance with section 6.
7. Acceptable use. You agree not to: use the Service unlawfully or in breach of others' rights; attempt to access other users' data; interfere with the operation, security or infrastructure of the Service; use automated tools to overload it, extract data in bulk or circumvent its limits; resell, sublicense or claim ownership of the Service.
8. Your content. The data you enter remains yours. You grant us only a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence, limited to what is technically needed to host, store, back up and sync it in order to provide the Service; no other use. You can export your data at any time and delete it from You → Danger zone.
9. Intellectual property. The Service, its name, interface, texts, graphics and illustrated characters are protected by copyright and remain owned by the provider of the Service or its licensors. The ambient sounds come from sources licensed for such use. Nothing in these Terms transfers rights in that content to you beyond personal use of the Service.
9-bis. Ideas and suggestions. If you send us an idea, a suggestion or a report, for example through the «Send us» form, we may use it freely to improve the Service. For what you send us this way, you grant us a free, non-exclusive, worldwide licence with no time limit to use it, modify it and build it into the Service, without any payment. This is an exception to point 8 and applies only to what you choose to send us this way. The licence is non-exclusive: the idea remains yours too.
10. No professional advice. The Service's calculation features — averages, graduation base, grade simulators, foreign grade conversions, required study pace, planners, the calculation of billable hours and of the real hourly rate, and every other calculation tool in the Service — are personal support tools based on general formulas. They are not an official document nor academic, legal, medical, psychological or financial advice. The rules of your university or employer always prevail: check the results against official sources before making decisions. The Service is not a diagnostic or therapeutic tool and in no way replaces a professional's opinion, including where it discusses focus, productivity or attention.
10-bis. No special categories of personal data in free-text fields. A few places in the Service let you write free text: messages with ideas, problems and other matters, the optional description of a report on a coworking session, the name or nickname you choose to show other participants, the topic and note of a session in the Agenda, and in the site's calculators the entries you type yourself, for example the description of a work item or the subject of an appointment. These fields are not meant to collect data about your health, sex life or sexual orientation, racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs, trade union membership, or genetic or biometric data: please do not enter it there. If you do so anyway, it remains prohibited to record, film or distribute anything the other person says to you or shows you on the video call (clause 5), and you can ask us to delete what you wrote at any time by writing to [email protected].
10-ter. Sample images of people. The photos of people shown on the site and in the demo are images generated with artificial intelligence: they do not depict users, customers or reviewers of WeFocusBuddy and do not represent real people.
11. Availability, "as is". The Service is provided, "as is" and "as available", without warranty of continuous availability, freedom from errors, accuracy of totals computed by the app or fitness for a particular purpose. Your statutory rights as a consumer remain unaffected, including the legal guarantee of conformity for digital content and services. We may modify the Service or parts of it for valid reasons (security, legal obligations, fixing defects, development of features) and suspend or discontinue it with reasonable advance notice, except for good cause, so you can export your data. We do not guarantee that another real person will show up in any given coworking session, nor which person in particular: until 10 minutes before the start your companion may change (section 5-bis).
12. Conduct of other users. Coworking connects people we do not know and do not vet beyond the declaration of age. We are not responsible for other users' behaviour during sessions. We encourage you not to share personal information, to leave the call at any moment if you feel uncomfortable, and to use the report feature. In case of serious conduct, also contact the competent authorities. If you create an invite link, you choose who to send it to: whoever opens it sees the name you chose to show, the times you propose with their length and time zone, the language of the invite, and whether each session is still open or already taken.
13. Limitation of liability. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of data due to events beyond our reasonable control, or damages arising from misuse of the Service or from the conduct of other users. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for wilful misconduct or gross negligence, for death or personal injury, or any liability that cannot be excluded by law. Mandatory consumer rights remain unaffected.
14. Changes to the Terms. We may amend these Terms for valid reasons, such as changes in the law, security needs or new features. Material changes will be announced in the app with reasonable notice and the date at the top will be updated. If you do not accept the changes you can stop using the Service and close your account; changes apply only to use after they take effect.
14-bis. Ending the contract and right of withdrawal. You may end the contract at any time, at no cost and without giving any reason, by deleting your account from You → Danger zone or by writing to [email protected]. This includes the 14-day right of withdrawal that the Italian Consumer Code (Articles 52 et seq. of Legislative Decree 206/2005) and Directive 2011/83/EU grant to consumers: since the Service is free of charge, ending the contract or withdrawing involves no payment or refund. When the account is deleted, your data is erased as described in the Privacy Policy (section 8). To withdraw, you can use the «Withdraw from contract here» button in «You» at any time: you enter or confirm your name and the email address for the confirmation, and send the statement with «Confirm withdrawal». We immediately send you by email an acknowledgement of receipt with the content of the statement and the date and time of submission, and the account is deleted. You can also use the model withdrawal form below, sending it to [email protected].

15. Governing law, jurisdiction and dispute resolution. These Terms are governed by Italian law, provided that this choice does not deprive a consumer resident in another European Union country of the protection of the mandatory rules of their own country. For any dispute with a consumer, the courts of the consumer's place of residence or domicile have jurisdiction; otherwise, the Court of Milan.
